The starting hole at Norfolk is a long, strong par 4, with a slight dogleg to the left. A long tee shot is required to reach this elevated green in regulation with your second shot. Take enough club on your approach as the greens sits about 50 feet above the fairway.

The second hole is a straightforward tee shot but offers a challenging second shot to a mostly blind green sitting below the horizon. Approach shots short of the green will tend to roll on. Putting can also be difficult if you are on the wrong side of the ridge that bisects this green.

The third hole is the shortest of the par 3’s at Norfolk. The green is guarded in the front by three deep bunkers. Putting on the green is difficult as the green tilts from left to right and from back to front.

The fourth hole is the #1 handicap hole, a strong par 4. Golfers must hit a medium-long tee shot to the top of the hill, avoiding the course boundary on the left and out of bounds on the right. Control of your approach shot is required as the green falls off on three sides. Out of bounds on the right continues the entire length of the hole.

Although short on length, this par 5 still holds challenges to those who fail to control their shots. If you hit your tee shot well, you can carry to the top of the hill and have a short to medium iron shot to the green in two. Bunkers guard the green in the front and to the right, while a long approach shot will fall off the back. This tilted green can be a challenge to putt whether you are above or below the hole. Birdie or better can be made on this hole if well played.

Hole # 6 is the longest of Norfolk’s par 3 holes, measuring 217 yards from the back tee. This generous, large green is relatively flat. Birdie is a great score if you select the proper club. Bunkers left and right of green will grab any errant shots and test your short game.

This medium length par 5 requires a straight or faded tee shot, as tall trees guard the right side off the tee. The hole follows the course boundary with out of bounds along the entire left side. Your approach to this two-tiered green must be controlled with bunkers guarding the front and right side. If you land on the correct tier, a birdie is possible. If you are on the wrong tier, bogey or worse may await you.

Norfolk’s final par 4 seems like a short, benign hole. Driver is not always required off the tee by the long hitters, however the fairway falls off severely on the left side to a deep hollow creating a difficult blind uphill approach shot. The front of the green is guarded by two bunkers so be sure to use enough club to carry them.

The finishing hole at Norfolk is a challenging par 3 with the clubhouse in the background. Be sure to use enough club for your tee shot. This large green is guarded by bunkers on the left and right and is tilted from front to back, as well as left to right. Par is a good score on this medium length par 3.
